Veronica Kallead
Veronica Kallead is Project Director with TU CASA tamusa @ Texas A&M University. In 2020, three of the professors from the university wrote a grant to serve the community for people with intellectual disabilities. The 1st cohort started in the Spring of 2021. TU CASA stands for Transition University for Career Advancement in Successful Adulthood.
Our main purpose for this program is to serve adults between the ages of 18-26 who have a diploma or GED and have a documented disability. The program is a 18-month certificate program where the student attends two classes for six credit hours. The main goal of the program is employment, second is independence.
We work on the students' strengths, so if they say we are interested in computers, drafting, office work, or medical field, we help them with their choice and assess whether they are capable to work in that field.
We connect with employers that are willing to allow students to intern and gain more of those skills. If you are interested in TU CASA, visit www.tamusa.edu.
