Nuevos Vecinos
Mission: Our mission is to build communities of hope and promise with our new neighbors. We see immigrant families as the key to creating strong and vibrant communities in our city. We are the only organization providing long-term shelter and support for immigrant families settling in San Antonio.
Our program is based on a belief in the deep good of community and the importance of empowerment within a community context in working with vulnerable individuals. We assume that the families that we receive bring with them strengths and promise that will lead to flourishing for all when they are given a small initial amount of support and connections into a loving and vibrant community. Families are connected with one another so that they find friends, mentors, people who have been in their shoes, and also a place where they can give back to support others--where their skills, strengths, and knowledge are valued.
