Vision: The vision of JOVEN is to help create a healthy community, in collaboration with others, where youth at risk and their families may experience healing and empowerment.

After School & Summer Camp

This high-quality after-school program is FREE to families and provides academic support to students. JOVEN is partnering with your school to provide innovative learning opportunities to reinforce and align with the students’ regular academic curriculum. JOVEN strives to close learning gaps due to COVID-19, increase students’ understanding of key concepts, prepare them for next school year, inspire students to continue learning, improve school day attendance, build confidence and a love of learning.

Prevention Services

This program works with all children regardless of their background to build life skills and healthy habits by sharing Center for Substance Abuse prevention curricula taught in school based setting and out of school time (OST) sites. Life Skills helps develop and/or strengthen youth’s character development and academic achievement. i.e. self-concept and self-esteem, recognizing and dealing with emotions, dealing with teasing, accepting consequences, refusing drugs and alcohol.

Victim Services

This program provides counseling and educational support groups for children who have experienced a significant loss or traumatic event in their lives. This program creates an environment which promotes safety and healing for a child’s negative reactions to trauma. Traumatic events may include death of a family member or friend, physical and emotional abuse, gang or family violence, divorce and abandonment issues.

COPE Services

This program provides mental health care services and treatment to individuals with a mental illness and coordinating services for individuals who have a mental illness with other transition support services

Health Education

The Abstinence Education Program is based on sexual risk avoidance education which provides youth with knowledge regarding the risks associated with non-marital sexual activity, in an effort to decrease the teen pregnancy rate and prevent the spread of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) for youth ages 10 through 19.

Intervention Services

This program provides a wide variety of services to both students and parents. The primary tool used to make contact with students is the support group. Within these small groups, the importance of education and its continuation past high school is emphasized. JOVEN provides prevention/intervention-based interactive didactic life skills training to identify students. In total, JOVEN’s services work to increase student and family readiness for dealing with academic and social challenges faced during the elementary, middle and high school years.
