The founder of Heart's Connections is Claudia Galvan. She is an author, counselor, and a community mentor. She grew up in Miami and now lives in San Antonio with her husband and her four children. She graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a master's degree in social work. She acquired two bachelor's degrees, one in Sociology at the University of Texas RGV and a bachelor's degree in Psychology with a specialization in child development.


She is a combat veteran and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. She helps veterans and their families undertake personal development programs, counseling, and business ventures. Claudia offers mentoring to high school and college students. Claudia actively participates in radio programs that promote the well-being of children, community entrepreneurship in small businesses, and education. 

Programs

  • The Heart of the Father: A support group for single fathers who have recently experienced separation or divorce and have full or partial custody of their children. A program connected with Family Services at the Neighborhood Place.
  • Young entrepreneur mentorship program: Seniors in high school, junior college, and university students. Workshops and activities assisted them through the Greater Chamber of Commerce in San Antonio.  Students attend Chamber Ambassador activities and learn about networking and career fields.
  • Write and Shine Workshop: Students participate in writing essays, poetry, memoirs, short stories, and research articles.
  • The Soper (Scribe) Teen Bible study group
  • Be positive Be Amazing program in partnership with Guipil Publishing House.
  • Veterans in the Community Support Group: Established by retired or recently honorably discharged military personnel who volunteer to visit juvenile detention centers, food banks, Ronald McDonald House, and Methodist and Baptist hospitals for prayer support.

Heart's Connections Services

  • Participants of the Pastors on Patrol project, we refer qualified ministers from different denominations to ride along with a sheriff in our city and assist in crisis intervention and prayer requests from citizens.
  • Nicarao's Cocoa culinary project and fundraiser product.
  • Radio La Nuestra program offers community resources, educational opportunities, and adoption information for those seeking to become parents of children in foster care.
