Joseph Shaffer is the interim President and CEO of Crosspoint, Inc. He stated, they have four Transitional Residential Facilities where people stay four-six months. While in the facility, residents learn the rules, get stabilize, and Crosspoint helps them get a job.

They teach job skills, help them to secure a place to live and reconnect them with family. During residents’ stay, there is a period where they learn to manage their behavior and how to live in a community which could involve mental health counseling and medications.

The Summit Facility is a federal reentry program that houses formerly incarcerated men and women, but also houses on separate floor, honorably discharged homeless veterans that were not formerly incarcerated.

The Hall House serves men who are coming out of psychiatric crisis units. These residents were stabilized at a psychiatric facility and have nowhere to go, so they stay at the Hall House for several months to get reconnected with the community. The Hall House also takes men coming out of county jail while waiting trial or because they have been referred by specialty courts. Joseph stated they also have the Alvarez House which performs the same service as the Hall House, but for women.

Their Casa Mia Facility houses women and children. Parenting and pregnant women who have a substance abuse disorder stay at this facility and can maintain or regain custody of their child while in recovery. Women can be referred to the facility by CPS, the courts or the women can refer themselves. Joseph stated that in excess of 20,000 people have come through their doors and a vast majority of them have built a better life and have returned to the San Antonio community.
