We bring together numerous governmental agencies and community partners to carry out the mission of assisting survivors of interpersonal violence and their children.
All services are free and confidential. Services are available in-person, online, and by telephone.
The Center provides survivors with access to critical services including crisis support, individual safety planning using evidence-based tools to assess danger, adult and child counseling, civil and criminal protective order assistance, educational empowerment, basic needs assistance, and much more. Because a child’s exposure to violence in the home often affects families for generations to come, the Center augments our survivor services to include youth violence prevention programs and children’s events throughout the year. Many services begin on the same day a survivor completes an in-take interview.
The Center’s collaborative service structure is considered a best practice because, among other reasons, the ease of access to services empowers survivors to escape abusive relationships and begin the journey towards healing, restoration, and self-sustainability. By bringing public and private partner agencies together in one location, the Center reduces the number of places survivors go to obtain services and the number of times they tell their story. This collaborative approach increases a survivor’s access to services. If the services needed are not available onsite, the Center’s staff coordinate with our offsite community partners so that referrals are warm, smooth, and trauma-informed.
If you, a family member, friend, coworker, or acquaintance would like to learn more about our comprehensive victim services, please reach out to us. It is important that survivors know that they are not alone and, particularly during this pandemic, the Center is here and ready to help. The Bexar County Family Justice Center is located at 126 E. Nueva on the 2nd floor, which is across the street from the Bexar County Courthouse in the heart of downtown San Antonio.
